HAZARD, Ky. – To be more accessible to coal mining companies in the eastern U.S., mine communications firm Tunnel Radio of America, Inc., has opened an Eastern Regional Office in Hazard, Ky.
“We wanted to be more available to mines in the southeast so we could offer better sales, service and technical support,” said Karen Tate, General Manager of Tunnel Radio. “We look forward to strengthening the relationships that we’ve developed with companies in these vital coal regions, and to being an excellent resource for all their wireless communication needs.”
The new office will open with three Tunnel Radio staff members: Scott Rose, General Manager; Kelly Massey, Sales Technician; and Kolston Green, Field Installation/Computer Technician. Green is a native of the Hazard area.
“In the coming months, we plan to add more staff,” Tate said. “We will focus our hiring on the Hazard area.”
To celebrate the opening of their new location, Tunnel Radio will host a Grand Opening at their office at 490 Village Lane in Hazard on Friday, April 3. The day will include a ribbon cutting and an open house for the public.
“Anyone from the mining industry is welcome to stop by, say hello and get to know our staff,” Tate said. “We also welcome everyone from the community and members of the media.”
Details about the Grand Opening will be made available at the company’s website, www.tunnelradio.com.
